HALIT ERGENC INTERVIEW
AW: Another door is the "Opera Singer» door and the person who played in musicals. From a person who presented all this movements, long ago not only on stage, but the sound and music. But you separated from all this long ago. Not on stage only but the world of music. How did you enter to the world of opera, lived in it and how did you go out and what was your feeling?
HALIT: I acted in the opera theatre studied opera, but my aim wasn't to become an opera singer. I loved the music and opera. The only place I could take such education concerning music and voice was in the opera section in the conservatory. This was the only section that was close to what I was thinking, I didn't have other choices. Either the Turkish music or the folk Turkish music. But I didn't want to be neither...Turkish musical....Nor folk Turkish musical, because their technical style is so clears. What I wanted to sing was closer to the opera and that is why I entered the opera section. Up till then, I hadn't heard of the opera. But after admission, I liked it so much, but despite of this, I had no intention of being an opera singer. Afterwards, another section started called "Musical theatre". You won't believe how this "Musical theatre" relieved me. I started learning...dancing, developing and discovering myself. I found myself more in acting. Actually standing on the stage at the beginning was as a dancer. Before "Dormain Theatre", you asked me. I started as a dancer and not as an actor. When I took dancing lessons, Professor Sait told me that there is a dancing musical play and that I should go and participate in it with the group dancers.
AW: Tell me about it!!
HALIT: I was on a hurry. I danced on the stage spontaneously. It was wonderful. I was so stressed that I thought my legs and arms entered in each other. I felt I wasn't ready...confused...mixed up. The theatre has a special secret. I felt I forgot all I learned and all my moves. With my repeated working on stage, I became relieved...more professional. Bit by bit I relaxed.
AW: Dancing is a kind of freedom. You found yourself in it. You just let go of yourself...body to the music.
HALIT: Sure!!
AW: Basically this is what you like! You love freedom and letting go. This is wonderful. The human side of Halit is totally different. Whoever lives with him minutes, would love to increase these minutes to a day and to 10 days and more. He is so close to the heart. Thanks HALIT ERGENC...
HALIT: I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this chance which you offered me.
AW: We were in a very special interview with Halit Ergenc,we leave you now and meet you again with another episode from Istanbul.
AW: Welcome to the star "Halit Ergenc".
HALIT: Welcome to you.
AW: The series. You received a lot of awards as..Best Actor with different type of acting. One of your series had the highest rating in the history of Turkish series, it was BBG. The series lasted for a long time, 3 years. I want to know how you shoot the series and the awards. I want to know about the success of your series and especially that BBG has a totally different story.
HALIT: Yes, Yes, let's enter in this issue. The story of all my series is a long story. You choose what would you like me to answer you first?
AW: How did you start acting in the series? and how you enter the Turkish houses as a guest through the Turkish series.
HALIT: The part about the series is a bit mixed up. In my first series, I was a guest. My first role was in a series called " Gülşen Abi ".I had the role in only one episode. It was played by a star and a lot of great actors. There was a conservatory colleague working in this series .She and I played the role of a married couple in one episode as guests. The role was not that important. During that time, all the offers I had were either 1 or 2 episodes. This is how I started step by step. It took a long time. My Real actual start was in 1999.
AW: from your beginnings in the series to the big hit in BBG, in which you co-operated with your...Beautiful wife and successful actress. I think it was a turning point in your professional life in series as a guest in the Turkish houses and as a...human being. Especially that in this series, it was the first time to look in the eyes of your wife. There are a lot of rumours and gossip that say that ...When you looked into her eyes; you said that this is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with! Which means that «Her Eyes»...were the keys to the relation which lasted and brought Ali?
HALIT: The part of "WE"....Me and my wife we knew each other long ago before the series....from long ago before the series....we knew each other and we had a good relationship. When the series started, during that period of time...every one of us had a totally different life and then 2 years passed and we were acting together. During that period of time, which was so strange, she had her private life and I, too had my life. I was then...married. In a way or another...this issue happened. I had a problem in my marriage. This period was totally separate from the love and the series. In my opinion, before there was even the "Thinking of marriage" between her and me...She had her private life in which she was involved...and I had also my problems and my private life in another direction. What caused the "Admiration" between her and me, I mean...Mutual admiration...by the ..."Looks”. And love was during the work. I felt I can come closer to her. As I told you, I like to go through to the ... HEART. I don't like to work in an ordinary or traditional way. I like to be realistic. I felt I am getting closer to her, and she getting closer to me. There is what is called "Chemistry" between us. I love this kind of life. We were working together and for us.... this was good luck. As you said we looked in each other’s eyes and we said in a second.. "THIS IS OUR FATE”. I said this is "The ONE". We were really lucky because the series offered us a way to discover each other more and to look to each other’s eyes more. If this didn’t happen, this period of time would be very difficult. When I think of these days with all the pain and sadness we were living, because it isn't easy to leave or end a relation with "Someone”. This causes a lot of misery. But I, then ...thank God, because I lived these days and in the end, I met my wife and I was able to start with her a new life. This is what is very valuable to me. The most precious time to me is that I could find my "Second Half" as they say. This is what I want and look for. I love settlement and stability .I became a settlement-lover, I became more committed to my home. I have a private marital life. This makes you better....and work better, because you are more comfortable at home. Not all actors can do this because this is a balance between ...Home and Work..
